Only total saints need apply.

A high school English teacher of 25 years writes “racy” novels and folks are in an uproar.

Not even your pen names can protect you. I’m sort of livid this morning. Trying to stifle a rant.

Here’s Judy Mays website. No matter your opinion about “erotic romance,” she’s still someone who writes, and has people who want to read her words.

As someone who writes erotica (and struggles to reconcile that with all the lessons she’s been taught over a lifetime), this pisses me off so much I can’t even see straight.

Oh, if only she wrote cookbooks! Then everyone would be singing her praises.

Addenda: Brian Spears over at The Rumpus has something on this too. He raises a good question – how does she find the time?

There is a Support Judy Mays Facebook page now.

Whole-heartedly agree. That sort of blind and hypocritical judgment is really sad. It creates several bad messages: one, that sex is something that people should be embarrassed about (and that teachers should not participate in), and two, those interviewd makes it sound like censorship is a good idea. Pshah! And where were the interviewess who supported her?

And let it be known, I’m so ticked I decided to misspell interviewed and interviewees. :)
