If you could live in any past era which would it be and why? Probably the late 1950s or early 1960s. So much good furniture.
Who is your role model and why? George Saunders–such a great writer and such a damn fine person.
Do you have a good luck charm? This strange wood Mexican pig named Panchito always sits on my desk while I write and sometimes I pick him up and scratch him behind his ears and then go back to writing.
Wackiest fan encounter: Still wishing someone would ruffie a drink they bought me. Or for that matter, just buy me a drink.
If I had to spend $10 at my favorite fast food joint, I’d order: I’m a Taco Bell man — I’d go with two 5 buck boxes.
My coolest article of clothing: I own this powder blue suit that I bought for nine dollars. There was a phone number on a cocktail napkin in the breast pocket that looked about twenty years old. When I called the number it was not a woman, it was a pet store.
Do you like to cook? If so, what? Eggs, any style.
TV show I never miss: Lately it’s been Breaking Bad. Also sort of addicted to Storage Wars.
If I could gay-marry anyone in the world, he/she would be… Charles Nelson Reilly
Where on earth are you most dying to go? Machu Picchu
What’s the last thing that made you cry? I’m somewhat simple-minded–almost all of the Pixar movies make me weep uncontrollably.
If you had to name one song as your theme song, what would it be? “Urgent” by Foreigner
Have you had a starstruck Hollywood experience? Who was it with? I live in Minneapolis, so running into Prince is pretty boring by now. Once I saw Parker Posey on the Bowery — yowza.
